Why isn't this unexpected?

Friends. Something Colten didn't really treasure much but hell, he made exceptions for two people. He remembered things quite vividly, it was the three trouble makers, roaming around Hogwarts. "The Annoying Trio" they used to be called, but they grew up. At least the two of them did, both being professor's at Hogwarts, he on the other hand? Still getting himself in trouble, like the usual. Being a death eater didn't exactly have much perks, he realized. It was a never ending struggle for power, that he supposed would be unobtainable at this rate. But who knows, perhaps in the near future, things would get better for them. For now, laying low was an option he found considerably reasonable despite the Dark Lord getting stronger.

He situated himself in one of Diagon Alley's cafe. Not too crowded, not too empty, just his liking. He noticed the time passing by but he didn't mind it the least. Colten had too much time on his hands anyway. The coffee lay untouched as he waited for his comrade, Caleb. It had been awhile since they last saw each other so a reunion was naturally in order. Neither Caleb nor Sloan knew about his situation right now and to be quite frank, he preferred it that way. He didn't really want anything happening to them.

Unusually enough, another thing Colten treasured was his family. Yes, beyond popular belief he actually had one. That's on a literal sense though; he had only one family member.

His mother was long dead to him, apparently she was murdered not too long ago. His father lavished him with all unearthly luxuries that remained as they were until he died on him really. Now what's left of him were two half-sisters, he found out not too long ago either. One night he saw her outside his doorstep, how she knew where he lived was beyond him but they seemed to get along well. They shared their secrets, he showed her her darkest one and he was surprised that she didn't exactly--mind. In exchange, she shared her story to him. Who knew his birth father was a disgusting lowlife? That didn't matter as much anymore since he was dead and but knowing what his half sister's been through, he just wanted to be there for her even more.

The time slowly passed as Colten reclined on his chair, the steam continued to rise as he watched his coffee, still untouched. "Hope they'll be here soon, the coffee's getting cold."

Caleb didn’t mind teaching. In honesty; the key to a students heart and well head, was the approach of a professor. It was obvious at how everyone seemed to fail History Of Magic miserably, and well if Caleb could say himself; he could remember falling asleep next to his two best friends back in his hogwarts days. The man had deserted the subject, and still did. It was only to his attention that Lily, his ex-girlfriend and the woman who had left him at the altar had enjoyed the subject; loved it even. And to be frank; Caleb wasn’t all too sure whether that made him love it a little bit, a lot, or hardly at all.

And well call him full of himself; but his students were at a moderate level, and they always turned up to class in a very practical and enthusiastic manner, despite classes being held at near one am. He tried to be poised, he tried to be coy, kind, compassionate, funny, and he was a good teacher if you must. He was, but he sometimes just forgot about that all too soon. School was out, and it was rather fortunate for a professor, due to their three or so month long holiday. But his break had been short lived, and the man found himself in a sticky situation; it was almost September. And he hadn’t done anything remotely interesting to create any sense of an enjoyable holiday tale to bring back to school.

But it didn’t mean that he didn’t socialise, because at that exact moment; the astronomy professor had apparated outside a quaint coffee store which found solace in French women droning pretty notes through the wireless. The door jingled as he pushed it, and he frowned lightly. Caleb sort of hated bells. It reminded him of Lily, and the fact that she left him. Left him for a fucking job. And well obviously, it was something he never wanted to remember.

Colten Ludwig was a friend of his. Like Sloan however, he was that of an opposite demeanour. Blunt, rash, charming; Colten was a bit of a prince, and he loved women. Unlike Caleb and alike Sloan, he didn’t stick to just one certain lady. But unlike Sloan; he was very, very picky. Yet despite their differences, the trio had strived for excellency and had remained friends since their younger days. And it wasn’t a surprise that the majority of the females in the room had throwing lingering glances at the handsome man slung over an armchair, oblivious to potential suitors.

Smirking, the man slouched over, before taking a seat opposite his friend. “Colton, my lover!” He announced, and snickering to himself as various women scowled, before turning back to their indecent lives. “You appear rather bored.” Caleb remarked, picking up his friends coffee and taking a swig.

The café bell chimed as Colten remained indifferent, seemingly deep in thought when in fact nothing was actually on his mind. Perhaps random thoughts just kept going through his head, about the world, about the things he had been doing and the fact that it had been a long time since someone had been added to his collection. He smirked at the thought alone. Perhaps it was about time that he had done so. Now if only he wasn’t too picky, then again, should he not have such a trait he would have piled most of the women he went to bed with in there already.
Fifteen was the number for now. Muggles seemed to be great targets considering he cared little about their world. Muggles, half-bloods, purebloods alike he had no pick. As long as the women reached his standards, as long as he was stimulated at the mere sight of them then it would have been fairly easy.

Now that one girl in the Ministry though, had caught his attention. Now if only he knew how to get under her skin; no matter. He would do so eventually.

His trail of thoughts were cut short by a familiar voice, the man lazily looked back at his friend who seemed to be eyeing him amusingly.

“The hell you talking about, Havill? Keep talking like that and people might think I’m a fag. Not that you’d care, bet you’d love that would you?” He retorted, quipping a smirk as he raised his hand, signalling the barista to take out the coffee he already ordered in advance. “I wasn’t bored. He plopped his hand down to the side as he leaned back, eyeing his friend again. “The coffee kept me company. Better company than you, if I must say.” He was joking of course. Yet this was probably nothing new for the two of them. (Three if you included the dim-witted, easily-angered, petty Sloan, but he wasn’t there)

He eyed his friend and chuckled lightly, he missed him. Not in a homosexual way of course, but he missed the conversations they’ve had over coffee or booze, getting him hooked up and the sort. Hell, even trying to get him to lose his virginity back in the day.
“So how are things?” He asked casually as he finally held the warm cup of coffee, bringing it up to his lips as he took a sip. “It’s been far too long since I’ve seen your face and Sloan’s. Guy still trying to hook up with ‘em school girls?” He’ll tell Caleb about his new found half-sister later.
