Are we supposed to be here

The forbidden forest was just that. Forbidden to students. And Rebecca Mulciber wasn't an exception to that rule. Even though her head of house was her guardian it didn't give her any special treatment. She was supposed to pay closer attention to the rules because of him. Not disobey them. She would have to find a place to stay while he taught if she was kicked out of school. But that didn't exactly mean anything to the fifth year Slytherin student.

Rebecca walked into the Forbidden Forest and leaned against a tree and opened her school books. She had to study for her O.W.L's and she didn't want to be in the Slytherin common room. The only problem with where she was; was that it was forbidden to be there.

Remy knew he should be studying, but the common room and the library were just too crowded for him to focus. Instead he decided to do some adventuring in the forest. He had shrunken his broom to fit into his pocket, just in case he would need it. He'd begun climbing trees and swinging around having a world of fun. The Forbidden Forest was one of Remy's favorite places on the school grounds. He loved the outdoors, and the trees of the forest were lovely.

It was around that time that Remy spied a beautiful and familiar face not too far away. Crossing from branch to branch and tree to tree, Remy quietly made his way above Rebecca. She was reading a book and didn't really look like she wanted to be disturbed. Remy was certain he could change that though.

He pulled out his wand and aimed at Rebecca. "Rebecca compitum Remy," he whispered his spell. With any luck she'd be drawn right toward him and he could give her a kiss.

Rebecca could hear the branches as Remy moved around, but she was hardly paying any attention. She was engrossed in her book. Not that she enjoyed school books as much as doing the magic. She was unaware Remy was there and so when she started to move she dropped her book and nearly shrieked. As she noticed Remy's face she grinned at him. "Always with the surprise attacks," she said chuckling quietly. She moved so she was up on the branch with him and grinned.

Remy laughed at Rebecca. "Oh, what's the fun in knowing what's going to happen?" he exclaimed. "After all, if you knew you'd have fallen in love with a mudblood up in that tower; would you have gone that night?" Remy knew the truth, she wouldn't have. Not that he believed she regretted what came of it, just that she wouldn't have done it if she had known. "No, surprises are good. They keep us entertained and on our toes. Even when we're ready they find a way to sneak up on us."

Remy wrapped his arms around Rebecca and gave her a big kiss. That had been his goal the whole time. "That, may not have been quite so surprising; but it was certainly as much fun."

Rebecca laughed with Remy. He definitely was right as he made his exclamation. At the next part Rebecca frowned. She knew she wouldn't have gone up if she had known she was going to fall in love with a mudblood that night. But she also didn't regret anything that came of that night. "You're right," she said grinning up at him.

Rebecca wrapped her arms around Remy and kissed him back as she moved to sit on his lap on the tree. She made sure they wouldn't fall and grinned at him. "And you're certainly right about that too," she said giggling.

Remy sighed slightly as Rebecca climbed into his lap. It wasn't a sigh of disappointment, nor of exasperation. It was identifiable as a sigh of contentment. Of course anyone who knew Remy knew he wasn't content to be content. He would be happy and adventurous. Remy lifted Rebecca and raced across the branch. As he neared the end of the branch he took a leap of faith landing firmly on the ground and continuing his charge into the forest.

After running for a time, Remy stopped at looked down at Rebecca. His breathing was heavy and he was sweating. "Let's have an adventure," he said. "You know, relax before tests roll around! We can certainly have some fun. And between the both of us I'm sure we'd be safe no matter how far in we go." Remy seemed to be having one of his stupid moments. Still, they were the most fun ones.

Rebecca giggled and grinned and than she felt herself being lifted into his arms and watched as he carried her across the branches. She closed her eyes before he leaped. She wasn't that great with heights when it wasn't on a broom. She felt the ground under his feet and opened her eyes.

After a little while Rebecca looked up at Remy. She smirked and climbed out of his arms and lifted her wand. "Let's go in style," she said and summoned her two firebolts. "Accio Firebolts," she said. She'd gotten them as a gift from some Death Eater members and she was ready to try them out. She was curious why she was given two, but she brought them both with her to school. They appeared a moment later and Rebecca climbed up onto hers.

Remy was almost ready to laugh at Rebecca when she mentioned going in style. It seemed like a ridiculous idea at first, until the Firebolts arrived. Remy was left in awe, he had a Nimbus, but Friebolts were expensive. And Rebecca had two of them. "F-Firebolts!" he stuttered. "Rebecca, where did you get these?"

When Remy looked up Rebecca was on her's already. Remy almost mounted the other, but an ominous feeling overcame him. "Rebecca," he began again, this time anxiety rising in his voice. "Where did you get these?"

Rebecca had never thought twice about the Firebolts. She didn't think about anyone dying or being injured to get them. She didn't really question why they were given to her. She had thought about it, but not very hard and so when she heard the anxiety in Remy's voice it got her thinking. They were rather expensive brooms to have two of and so she looked at Remy and than the brooms in quiet thought.

A moment later she looked at him. "They were gifts from some old family friends. One gave me one of them for starting fifth year and the other sent me the other one for my birthday," she said as she went into her robes and lifted the letters from her pockets that had been enclosed with each broom. She opened the first letter and read it out. "Be careful. A broom this fast could be fatal," she read thinking nothing of it. She handed him the letter. Than she opened the other and read it to herself. It was a darker letter and said much more. She handed him the letter. She looked at him. She figured he would know the name. He was a Death Eater.

Dear Rebecca,
This is going to be a heavy year. With your birthday comes more responsibilities and strength. Use this wisely. It might save you from fatal darkness. Death and bloodshed are coming. It will be time to choose where your loyalties are soon enough.

Even though Rebecca admitted they were gifts from two different people, Remy didn't feel any comfort in the brooms. Remy knew just who family friends could be, and he knew that they'd not done the best of keeping their relations a secret. Remy knew they could never know Rebecca would try to coax Remy onto one of the brooms, but would that matter to death eaters? Would they care if Remy used the broom if Rebecca were harmed or killed. That could lure Remy out, or get rid of a "blood-traitor".

Remy read the note and knew whichever broom it went to was safe. "Okay, I'll trust you; not your broom," Remy said. "I'll be counting on you should something go wrong." With that Remy pushed his ominous feeling aside and leaped on the other Firebolt. With a wink at Rebecca and forced look of confidence, Remy rose off the ground.

Rebecca smiled at Remy. She definitely didn't think they would be harmed. And if they were she'd be as quick and agile as possible. She didn't really think they would be maimed even. She hovered above the ground watching Remy hesitate before he leaped onto the broom. "Where to?" she asked as she hovered above the ground beside Remy. She heard what he said and smirked. "If something does go wrong than I'll be able to do something," she said sure of that.

Remy was putting his faith fully in Rebecca. That was a large part of love Remy believed; trusting your significant other entirely. "I know, I trust you." With that Remy took off, weaving through the trees. "Catch me if you can!" he shouted behind him.

After traveling a short distance, Remy stopped and turned to wait on Rebecca. She was quick, probably quicker than Remy; but he wanted to play a game here. The thought hadn't occurred to Remy that Rebecca might have already passed him while he was flying.

Rebecca grinned at Remy and than she took off. She weaved in and out of trees and at one point she poked Remy as she passed him. She smirked. She was fast on a broom and she could get by people and the Firebolt was even faster than most brooms.

After a while she slowed down a bit. Remy passed her and she smirked at him. "Nice arse," she called teasingly and than she shot up out of nowhere right beside him. She giggled.

"Nice arse? Really? That's it?" Remy retorted. He was teasing her at the point. She wanted games and she would get them. He took off giving her a poke in the chest and flying away at full speed. "You're it!" he shouted behind him.

He zipped through the trees and into the branches, somewhere Rebecca would never fly. He'd be safe there, even if she found him she'd be unable to keep up. Or at least that was what Remy had planned, but the Firebolt didn't handle like his Nimbus and he collided with a branch and fell to the ground. The ground covered in cobwebs...

Remy freaked out, he was terrified of spiders and this was a sure sign of their presence. Looking around, Remy realized he had no idea where in the forest he was. "Rebecca!" he shouted. He was lost and scared. Remy wasn't accustomed to fear and didn't know how to react. "Help," he whimpered quietly, unable to raise his voice any longer.

Rebecca smirked at Remy and giggled slightly as he made his comment. It also made her smile. She felt him poke her chest and smirked at him. So that was going to be it. If he wanted to play a game of chase than that could be arranged. She flew off after him and grinned. She flew past him and turned around so he would fly into her if he didn't slow down. She would move as soon as he got close enough.

She saw him go up into the trees and followed swerving. She heard the crash, but she couldn't see him. She flew past him ducking and swerving until she noticed a huge spider coming for him. She flew off after him and grabbed him and his broom and held him on her broom and swerved out of the trees and flew out of the forest.

She heard the spider behind them and just barely missed a spider web. She flew towards the castle as fast as possible. As soon as she got onto the castle grounds; she flew to the ground and helped Remy off.

Remy wished he could scream. He was staring down a giant spider and it looked hungry. Instinctively Remy drew his wand, but in his panic he couldn't remember any spells. He had forgotten them all and he was in a dead panic now. He was shaking; his voice could not be found. He tried to run, but his legs wouldn't move. Fear had truly overtaken Remy, arachnophobia was paralyzing. Just as Remy resigned himself to his fate, he was lifted off his feet flying away.

Remy looked up and saw Rebecca determinedly carting him away. Now he was embarrassed, not blushing embarrassed; but wanting to disappear embarrassed. He didn't want Rebecca to see him like this, he didn't want to be shaking in her arms.

He was still shivering in terror by the time she helped him off the broom at the castle grounds. "S-s-sorry," he stuttered. "I-I lost y-your broom." Remy wasn't scared of Rebecca, he just couldn't shake the fear he'd just felt. "Th-that wasn't much l-like a Gryffindor. Th-e Sorting H-hat can make m-mis-takes."

Rebecca was more worried about him than the broom she dropped on the ground somewhere along the way and she hugged him tightly. "It's okay Remy," she said concerned about him shaking so much. She could get the broom back by summoning it. "You're still a true Gryffindor. You're not the only one scared of giant spiders. I am too, but I was more worried about you than some giant spiders," she said as she still hugged him.

As she moved away from his embrace she lifted her wand. "Accio Firebolt," she said as she summoned her Firebolt from the forbidden forest. It flew towards her and she looked at Remy. The broom was fine. If anything she noticed a dark mark emblemized on it and she didn't point it out because she knew Remy would never get on it again if he knew that it was there.

Remy felt immediately comforted by Rebecca's hug. She didn't laugh at him like any other slytherin would have. It was as if nothing could come between them. Remy smiled at Rebecca immediately. "Yeah, I'm so brave. I meet you only in secret so I don't get hurt. I'm paralyzed by the sight of spiders, they don't even have to be giant. Heh, sounds real brave." Remy was patronizing himself now. He seemed to do this every time something went wrong for him.

"I'm glad your brooms okay," Remy said looking down. Firebolts must have been drastically different from a Nimbus, Remy'd flown through those trees dozens of times without crashing. "I suppose I'm not really used to a Firebolt and got a little cocky."

Rebecca would have normally laughed if it was anyone else, but it was Remy and she felt the comfort of his arms delightful. She kissed him and smiled. They were in plain view. "You're brave enough to fight for your life. You would risk it all for a soon to be Death Eater," she replied looking at him.

She looked at him. "Well firebolts are fast. You need to get used to the speed before you do anything else," she said wondering whether it was dark magic or him.

Remy smiled at what Rebecca said. "That's not bravery," he consigned with a sigh. "That's love. That's what it does to a person." Remy looked up with his smile clear. "Heh! If I was really brave, I'd stop you from becoming a Death Eater." Remy might have been a little loud when he said this and caused himself to flinch and search around. Nobody had seemed to hear and he began to wonder if it was just him being paranoid.

"Yeah, my Nimbus 2000 isn't as fast; but it doesn't turn so jerkily either," he said. "Perhaps I just need some time to practice." Remy let his head fall again before he continued on. "I'm sorry for any damage I may have inflicted on your firebolt. I'll convince my aunt to replace it, but you'll have to come by this summer to get it!" Remy finally looked up with a big smile. "I won't take no for an answer, you're coming by! My aunt's a witch, so it'll be fine!"

"That's bravery and love," she replied as a witty comeback. Than she saw his smile and heard the words he said. She frowned nervously at that. Joking about it wasn't going to help her or her family change and they both knew it. So she looked at him. "You wouldn't even get that far. If my father knew anything than he'd send the death eaters that know where I live to come get me and bring me to the dark lord," she replied frowning.

"The Firebolt is sensitive. Any movement it senses is a difficult one," she said replying with her knowledge of brooms. She grinned hearing his next words. "Oh I'll just send this one in to be fixed by the Knight family," she said not sure of the broom shop name. "I'll still come by though," she said grinning.

Had Rebecca thought what Remy'd said to be a joke. "And I'd go through any of them I had to to get you back," he said looking stern and serious. He had meant it. He wouldn't let anyone hurt Rebecca. "As long as I'm here, nobody will ever hurt you, I don't care who they are. Death eaters or aurors, I will protect you." Remy took Rebecca's hands in his and looked her in the eye. "I will protect you; it comes with our love."

Remy nearly jumped and laughed as Rebecca spoke. "Just to let you know, be weary of my sister. We can't use magic, but she can get a hold of some pretty nasty things and will try to kill me." Remy knew this probably sounded odd, but Rebecca needed to know before she arrived in the summer. "My mother and sister live there too. Mother would stay out of your way, but I wouldn't put it past my sister to try to hurt you too."

Rebecca heard his words. She knew he was serious. She didn't want anyone risking their necks for her. That was different. She loved him and if he was willing to do that for her than she knew he loved her. She was one of those girls who tries to do everything on her own. She doesn't want people risking themselves and getting hurt for her. She held his hand and looked into his eyes. "I would do the same for you, but I'm one of those people who has never let anyone save my life," she said quietly.

Rebecca heard what Remy said about his sister and looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "I'd invite you to stay with my family, but the family who took me in are death eaters," she said quietly.

Remy pulled Rebecca in close after she'd made her stand clear. He kissed her deeply and leaned her backwards. He held the kiss for at least one minute, maybe even longer. He wanted her to feel good in his arms before he said what he was thinking. As he pulled away he kept her leaned back. "You may have never let anyone save your life before, but sometimes it's out of your control." He looked her in eye and couldn't help but think how beautiful her eyes were. "I love you, and if I can help you I will; no matter what the cost."

Remy threw his head back and laughed at what Rebecca said. "I've learned to deal with Oriana over the years!" he stated bluntly. "Besides, she has a reason to hate me," Remy began. "I got our father killed and have magic; she gets to want me dead after all of that."

Rebecca leaned in close and kissed him back holding the kiss as he leaned her back slightly. She watched him as he pulled away and she smiled at him. She heard what he said and was speechless. She just had no clue what to say to that. She was speechless.

Rebecca laughed with Remy, but she listened to what he had to say. It must be tough for him. "I'm sorry to hear that," she said.
